Fortnite players faced a brief surprise on the morning of April 15, 2025, as servers were temporarily taken offline to implement a new hotfix for update v34.30. While the downtime only lasted about three hours, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET, it sparked a lot of buzz within the community—especially once fans discovered what Epic Games had in store.
The outage began just as many players were gearing up for morning matches. According to Epic Games, this was a planned update designed to apply a hotfix that would enhance gameplay and add new content. The devs communicated ahead of time via their @FortniteStatus X account, explaining that matchmaking would be disabled roughly 30 minutes before servers went offline.
So what did the hotfix bring? One of the highlights was the return of the Slurp Rush map to Fortnite Reload. This beloved map, inspired by Chapter 2, revives eight fan-favorite locations including Slurpy Swamp, Steamy Stacks, and Fort Crumpet. Designed for fast-paced gameplay, Slurp Rush includes unlimited Slurp, making it easier (and wilder) to stay in the fight longer with constant access to health and shields.
Alongside the map update, vaulted weapons like the Combat Shotgun, Mammoth Pistol, and Maven Shotgun made a comeback—perfect for players who missed their old loadouts.

The hotfix follows on the heels of the major 34.30 update, which introduced pop star Sabrina Carpenter into the game. Players can now unlock her tracks through the Season 8 Music Pass or purchase additional songs directly from the item shop.
For those affected by the downtime, Epic advised completing time-sensitive challenges and redeeming Battle Pass rewards before the maintenance began. While some players were frustrated by the brief interruption, most agreed that the return of nostalgic content and powerful weapons was worth the wait.
Fortnite continues to deliver major updates that keep its community engaged. With surprises like Slurp Rush and star-studded collaborations, it's no wonder the game remains a dominant force in the world of battle royale. |
